Ampthill & District Choral Society is for singers who enjoy performing some of the best and most popular choral works. The choir rehearses on Monday evenings during school term-time between September and May and stages a Christmas Concert and a Spring Concert each year. The choir currently has around thirty members (soprano, alto, tenor and bass) and we always welcome new singers. No audition is necessary.
The Society was founded in 1947 and celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2016-17. We marked this milestone with our Spring Concert in May 2017.
The Society has performed many concerts in and around Ampthill, providing an enjoyable and friendly environment in which to learn new choral works or re-visit well known and familiar classics of the choral repertoire. Our Spring Concerts each May are the culmination of several months of rehearsals and provide an opportunity for family, friends and the local community to share the choir’s enjoyment of great choral music. The choir also hosts a Christmas Concert in December, a more informal occasion where the choir performs a range of Christmas music, together with solo performances and festive readings from members of the choir, interspersed with familiar Christmas carols for the audience to sing along to. Its a great way to share in the music of the Christmas season.
